(Excerpt) Interview with Tina Gorjanc : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. Tina Gorjanc : The conceptual fashion collection has been conceived as the result of a personal theoretical construing of time. It resulted in an independent interpretation of timelessness which launches the project in a new way into the world of design. .Frank Scott: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?. Tina Gorjanc : The main focus of the presented project has been to design a product that would not just be allocated with the subjective comprehension of the historical and sociological background which is usually attributed to objects, but would also interpret their independence from time through the very form of the garments. .Frank Scott: What are your future plans for this award winning design?. Tina Gorjanc : My future plan for the Moment collection consist in promoting it internationality in order to spread its concept which opposes to the fast fashion mentality and supports the making of timeless pieces that are passed on from generation to generation in one family. Within the mentioned plan I am also thinking of applying new materials that would allow me to develop a more wearable range. .Frank Scott: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?. Tina Gorjanc : The concept of the project was one of the ideas that had lied in the back of my head for a long time. The longer part of the process consisted in realizing the idea and bring it to life. It took about nine months in order to get a consistent result of the experiments. .Frank Scott: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?. Tina Gorjanc : With the inspiration behind my design I tried to challenge myself, as there were no previous theoretical or practical background related to my project. I was determine to bring a concept that has been hunting me for almost a year to life. .Frank Scott: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?. Tina Gorjanc : The production of the collection consists mostly of handwork and it requires a lot of attention to detail, which makes every piece unique. The collections is also conceived more as an art product than a reproductive fashion range. .Frank Scott: What made you design this particular type of work?. Tina Gorjanc : With this project I wanted to discover the static characteristics of frozen objects and understand how far I can push the design to still allow its movement. I found that a fashion collection was best suited to show the purpose of my experiments and the inspiration behind it. .Frank Scott: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?. Tina Gorjanc : I always tend leave my inspirations theoretical and I try to avoid to draw them from existing design. I believe that by doing so you allow yourself to develop an innovative design that does not derive from an already existing one. .Frank Scott: Who is the target customer for his design?. Tina Gorjanc : The collection was conceived as a conceptual art series, therefore its target costumer include anyone that is passionate about design or art in general (from art collectors to conceptual fashion enthusiasts). .Frank Scott: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?. Tina Gorjanc : I believe that the most prominent characteristic about my design is that it managed to bring to life a strictly theoretical concept that has not been analyzed so thoroughly before, which makes it unique in his category. .Frank Scott: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?. Tina Gorjanc : I decide to choose a name that will represent the concept of the design as clearly as possible. .Frank Scott: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?. Tina Gorjanc : I combine a range of wire modelling, airbrush, casting, sewing and painting tools. .Frank Scott: What is the most unique aspect of your design?. Tina Gorjanc : In my opinion the most unique aspect of the project is that every garment in the collection is designed and produced by using a combination of different techniques and mediums while displaying the same concept. .Frank Scott: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?. Tina Gorjanc : The project was not a collaboration, however I gained a lot of useful information from specialists from Samson Kamnik d.o.o., a company that develops, produces and distributes their own design and artistic materials. .Frank Scott: What is the role of technology in this particular design?. Tina Gorjanc : The collection itself does not contain a technologicThe collection itself does not contain a technological gadget, neither is design to include one.
